Excommunication is common within Christendom but shunning isn't.
Some "Churches" handle it properly and Biblically.
if they controlled a nation they would stone their kids to death , which seems harsh but its nothing compared to the solitary confinement they emotionally and physically bestow on their own children.
i think they have ticked every box as to the rejection of their children except killing them, they leave that for god ..

the presumably "biblical" practice of limiting the way women participate in congregational matters of the wtborg cult inc. (as well as certain other sects of christendom) may be a gross mis-interpretation of what paul meant.
i'm inclined to agree completely with this account of what paul really meant.. thoughts anyone?
aren't women more deserving of greater participation and respect?.
Bobcat,
The link you provided regarding "Women in Ancient Israel" is poignant. So as a matter of Truth, the WTBorg Cult Inc. is an extension of Pharisaic Law (Rules of Men.)
You make your argument very convincingly!

Bobcat,
Very interesting thoughts regarding the Sign of Jonah.
Since the Pharisees believed that a man wasn't dead until three days had elapsed; and that we know it would be very difficult for a man to remain alive in the belly of a fish (or whale), could it be that Jonah was actually dead for those three days and was made alive again when he was expelled onto the beach?
Jesus also let his good friend Lazarus go for three days (perhaps to show the Pharisees that he was really dead) before going to him to bring him back to life. Nobody could deny that Lazarus had died and yet he was miraculously brought back to life. The strongest form of proof that even the Pharisees could not reject.

Quote from Diogenesister:
In fact the scriptures were Paul is particularly scathing of women are the very ones academics don't believe he wrote such...
And they think correctly since Paul was quoting a letter from Chloe:
Quote from Article:
Such is the case in 1 Corinthians 14:34, 35, which, if written today, would have been set apart in quotation marks, for Paul here was quoting directly from Chloe’s letter (1 Corinthians 1:11; 5:1; 7:1). In other words, these verses are not to be taken as Paul’s instruction to the church, but as a teaching that someone else was setting forth.
In truth, Paul was showing that the teachings he quoted regarding Women were incorrect. Paul was not advocating that Women should be silenced or treated as they were in Pharisaic Law.
How can the WTBorg Cult Inc. have gotten it so wrong? How could "God's chosen channel" adopt Pharisaic Law regarding Women and call it "righteous?"
i find it pretty shocking how corporate the jw religion is.
i never saw it this way when i was in but now that i look at it from a different perspective, it seems quite clear.
much of the terminology used by jws is corporate inspired.
Aye, and perhaps the most militant of religious corporations. How many others have their own Thought Police, Kangaroo Courts and Governing Body Idols?
's perverted & self-condemnatory language is inescapable.
"......but what does this tell us about our enemy satan?.........
he certainly does not have a soft spot for children.
One thing is "for sure." The WTBorg Cult Inc. does have a keen understanding of the Job of Satan. But then, it figures. After all, the WTBorg Cult Inc. is aiding Satan as he goes about his work of lying, deceiving and hurting people.
They're doing a "splendid" job of it too.
why doesn't the watchtower simply apply the hot / crazy matrix and leave us fellas to get on with it?.

Why doesn't the Watchtower simply apply the Hot / Crazy Matrix and leave us fellas to get on with it?
Superb question! Both the long and short answers should be "obvious."
Long answer: While claiming to be the "channel of God" they are in reality in service to the Father of the Lie.
Short answer: They are a CULT.
Once that sinks in, Freedom begins.
i have just had a holiday.
i don't get many so this was special.
i went to italy.
Now that is really good news Phoebe! Very positive and encouraging testimony. Congratulations, you are well on your way to freedom!

i wrote this one the other thread, but maybe it gets lost in it.. i'm considering adding one section to my essay on the subject of shunning.
perhaps it may evolve into a book.
i think it would add considerable weight to it if i would include two or three real life stories of people who suffered shunning.
Bump it again. This is an important work of revealing the Truth about the JWBorg Cult which should be documented extensively.
